MetaMask Setup Guide

Install MetaMask

MetaMask is a secure digital wallet that works as a browser extension. It's your key to interacting with the blockchain.

Download MetaMask for your Browser

Follow the instructions on the MetaMask website to add the extension to Chrome, Firefox, or Edge.

Create Your Wallet

Once installed, open the MetaMask extension and select "Create a new wallet". You will be asked to create a password.

Critical: Secure Your Secret Recovery Phrase

MetaMask will show you a 12-word Secret Recovery Phrase. **This is the master key to your wallet.** Write it down and store it in a secure, offline location. Never share it with anyone. If you lose this phrase, you will lose access to your assets forever.

Connect to Polygon Amoy Testnet

The Liquid Ledger runs on the Polygon Amoy test network. You need to switch to this network to use the platform.

Click the network dropdown at the top-left of the MetaMask window (it usually defaults to "Ethereum Mainnet").
Click "Add network".
On the next screen, find and click "Add a network manually" at the bottom.
Enter the following details exactly:

Network Name: Polygon Amoy

New RPC URL: https://rpc-amoy.polygon.technology/

Chain ID: 80002

Currency Symbol: MATIC

Block explorer URL: https://www.oklink.com/amoy

Click "Save". Your wallet is now connected to the correct network.

Get Test Currency (MATIC & USDC)

Since this is a test network, you can get free test currency from a "faucet". You will need MATIC for gas fees and USDC to buy casks.

Copy your wallet address from MetaMask and paste it into the faucets to receive your test tokens. It may take a minute or two for them to appear in your wallet.

You're All Set!

You are now ready to use The Liquid Ledger. Head back to your portfolio, connect your wallet, and start exploring the world of tokenized whiskey investment!
